DEVELOPMENT OF A NATIONAL SAFETY AND SECURITY STRATEGY

NATIONAL SAFETY AND SECURITY STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

THE CHALLENGE

A major sporting administrator engaged HATAMOTO to develop a national safety and security strategy to support Australia’s bid to host the 2015 Asian Cup and 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup™ across each State and Territory in Australia in a six-week timeframe. Following publishing of the Strategy, we assisted the administrator to develop the Safety and Security Bid Book Chapters for the Bids.

THE PROCESS

HATAMOTO coordinated and consulted with a large number of stakeholders across complex organisational structures and within multiple operating environments including: State/ Territory Governments, Police, Australian Defence Force, Emergency Services and Security Providers to gain endorsement for the outcomes of the project. The Strategy was endorsed as comprehensive by all stakeholders and permitted the accurate estimate of the safety and security budget for the event.

THE RESULTS

Positive endorsement was obtained from all participant stakeholders. This outcome was achieved within a customer-focussed security/risk management environment that involved large-scale crowd management strategies. The project was completed within budget and within an extremely limited timeframe.
