MAJOR EVENT BUDGET PREPARATION
A major sporting administrator engaged HATAMOTO to develop the safety and security budget for Australia’s bid to host the 2015 Asian Cup and 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup™.
Using the Safety and Security Strategy that HATAMOTO had prepared, a detailed budget model was developed. This model identified the human resource and security infrastructure costs required to deliver the Strategy. The scope of the Budget model considered:
- Police, private contract security services, and Australian Defence Force resources across the Competitions theatre; and
- Physical security infrastructure including x-ray screening equipment, walkthrough metal detectors, hand wand screening devices, and associated furniture fixtures and equipment at all Sites that had security needs except Stadiums.
Positive endorsement was obtained from all participant stakeholders. The budget was reviewed by the global professional services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and assessed as comprehensive and accurate. The project was completed within budget and within an extremely limited timeframe.
